Feed-in Tariffs for electricity and heat for small generatorsDate: Tuesday, 2nd March 2010 Programme 18.00 - Registration & light refreshments (tea, coffee, sandwiches)
In order to pursue the government’s targets for renewable energy production, it is recognised that small and micro-generators have to be encouraged. Many people are aware of capital grants available to householders and community groups for renewable energy projects, under programmes run by the Energy Savings Trust and Community Energy Scotland. Many are also aware of Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), and that ‘double ROCs’ apply for small generators. But how can we access these benefits? Some electricity companies encourage small generators, others are less keen, and others still don’t seem to be interested in small generators at all. This presentation will explore what can be complex and bewildering feed-in tariff structures, to allow small generators to ‘sell electricity to the grid’ and benefit from the schemes put in place by the government. The presentation will also explore how renewable heat might also be supported by the government. This talk is organised by the Scottish Solar Energy Group, in association with the Centre for the Built Environment and the School of the Built and Natural Environment at Glasgow Caledonian University. Speaker - Daniel Borisewitz, Policy Manager for Heat, Bioenergy and Microgeneration, Scottisn Renewables Booking To book a place please click here, or phone CBE on 0141 273 1411, or send a message to david.oneill@gcal.ac.uk.
