SCC pi Workshop

SCC pi Workshop for Local Authorities - Measuring new build & maintenance, partnering & framework contracts.

This workshop will provide you with straightforward, practical help and solutions to determine:

  • What, who and when to measure
  • How to get buy-in from all partners
  • What to do with the results

SCC has developed a comprehensive and flexible model for measuring project-based performance, on a 360o basis, to drive performance improvement. The model itself is easily adapted to individual circumstances.

To support the model, SCC has developed a range of tools, techniques and consultancy services, designed to overcome the difficulties and barriers to implementing a successful measurement process and to focus the drive for performance improvement.

The workshops will cover

  • What should I measure – making best use of the model to measure Design, mobilisation, Construction and Operation (use) for your project.
  • How should I go about doing it  - Applying the model – establishing a process to ensure successful application of the model including use of a software tool
  • What can I do with my results – analysing and applying the data captured to drive improvement

Who should attend?

Local Authority Managers involved in procurement, design, construction and maintenance.

Speakers

Simon Pinkney BSc, Director of Building Software Limited

Simon has over 25 years experience of line management in the Engineering and Construction sectors, with particular expertise in Benchmarking and Supply Chain Management.

Having gained his degree Simon spent from 1981 to 1985 with BUPA as a Senior Systems Analyst working on the design, development and implementation of an on-line marketing information system.  He then worked for GKN Central Purchasing as a Senior Contract Negotiator buying energy for the Groups UK operation, before moving in 1986 to Purchasing Index (UK) Ltd, a company specialising in Benchmarking, as a Senior Consultant. He joined John Mowlem & Company Plc as Deputy Director, Group Purchasing. In this role he spearheaded the development and implementation of a major Supply Chain Partnering Initiative aimed mainly at the supply base.

One of the founders of Building Software, Simon is responsible for Sales & Marketing and has overseen the development of the company’s Supply Chain Management and Performance Measurement products as well as the formation of its successful range of Benchmarking Clubs.

Jon Wells, Account Director of Building Software Limited

"Jon trained as a Building Surveyor but spent nearly 10 years as a site based Construction and Project Manager.

For the last 10 years, he has specialised in performance management with a particular drive to help construction organisations implement measurement frameworks and encourage performance improvement.

In 1997, Jon implemented and ran a measurement process on a 3 year £90M partnering framework for the Highways Agency. It was used to monitor both team and partner performance at project level, to provide supplier performance assessments on over 50 framework contractors and to compare performance against traditionally procured projects.

Since then Jon has worked with many client, consultant and contractor organisations from most sectors of construction including Housing, Highways, Water, Education and Health.

He is currently supporting the implementation of "project lifecycle" measurement on Swansea's CEW Demonstration projects, supports AENI (Achieving Excellence Northern Ireland) project KPI collection across all Government Centres of Procurement Excellence and was instrumental in the implementation of the Scottish Construction Centre SCC KPI framework.

Jon has worked with Building Software for nearly 7 years, is approaching 39, is married and has 3 children (7 to 11yrs).
