CBE

About us

CBE’s aim is to promote a range of activities and initiatives relevant to all who are involved in the design, construction, maintenance and management of the built environment in the West of Scotland (95% of activities) and across Scotland (5% of activities).

In particular CBE provides a central point of contact for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs), operating within the West of Scotland Construction Industry, and links these organisations to the resources, expertise, and facilities available within the built environment faculties of both Glasgow Caledonian University School of the Built and Natural Environment, University of Strathclyde Department of Architecture, and the Mackintosh School of Architecture, The Glasgow School of Art.

CBE can assist professional and industrial enterprises to:

  • Establish contacts and forge collaborative partnerships
  • Adopt innovative developments and best practice techniques
  • Develop new products and processes
  • Learn new skills through lifelong learning programmes
  • Obtain resources to support research and training activities
  • Access business support schemes provided by the Scottish Enterprise
  • Promote equal opportunities for women, ethnic minorities & the disabled

It is anticipated that the information and facilitation service provided by CBE will improve dialogue between industry and academia, and in doing so, will add value to the performance of the construction sector and enhance the quality and sustainability of the built environment in Scotland.
